A visitor centre in Kinvara that interprets the flora and fauna of the Burren, the most diverse place for natural history in Ireland. Enjoy the Burren walk and see the ancient farm yard and fairy woods. Experience the shattered limestone pavement and karst features such as the Doline unique to the geology of the limestone landscape.
Visit the Turlough- a disappearing tidal freshwater lake. The level fluctuates in Winter and in Summer the lake drains twice every 24 hours with the tides. The Turlough is an uprising of the Blackwater river that runs underground from the peat bogs of Derrybrien to Dunguaire castle in Kinvara Bay. This huge river rises in a Spring at the NE corner of the farm. When the tide is in the lake is high as the seawater backs up the river and when the tide is out the lake empties. At times of dry weather the Turlough can become salty leading to a unique ecosystem that can only be found in a few places on earth.
Feed the farm animals- native breeds and a few visitors (2 retired alpacas) Say hello to the sheep, goats, donkeys, cows and horses.
